Nerida is a gorgeous top-down crescent-shaped shawl, named after Nereids, which in Greek mythology were sea nymphs
When designing this shawl I wanted to capture the stormy, changing sea. Which I think I managed perfectly with the calmness of plain panels, occasionally interrupted by the busyness of lace and the sharp scallop edging representing the roughness of sea rocks. To read more about the inspiration for the name please visit my blog – moochkauk.blogspot.co.uk

Please note that pattern is written using UK terminology with US conversion given in abbreviation list.

Materials

5 x Coopknits Sock Yeah by Fyberspates (photographed in Malachite 110) – 212m/231yds per 50g

I have used above yarn, but any 4ply/fingering or light 4ply/fingering yarn will be fine to use for this shawl, taking into account that different fibres result in different finished effect.  You will need approximately 1.050m (1.150yds).

5 mm (US 8/H) crochet hook

Finished size

The completed blocked shawl measures approximately 55 cm (21.6 in) at the widest point, 165 cm (65 in) at the top curve and 337 cm (132.6 in) at the bottom curve.

Nerida was first published in issue 2 of **Crochet Now** magazine. The rights have now reverted back to me and I'm delighted to publish the shawl.
