I teach a range of workshops throughout the UK and holidays abroad and have vast teaching experience. Crochet Finishing Techniques

This full day class with the amazing Anna Nikiporowicz (author of Crocheted Wreaths for the Home, Embroidered Crochet and Tunisian Crochet Stitch Dictionary) will show you all you need to know to create finish off your crochet designs. During this class you will work through different seaming and joining techniques such as whip stitch, mattress stitch, slip stitch, flat braid, and the join-as-you-go method of joining traditional granny squares. These will allow you to create professional-looking seams and a variety of buttonholes and button bands. You will also practice chainless foundation, suspended treble and magic loop, and how to increase or decrease length and repair a too-tight foundation chain by cutting and grafting. This workshop is designed for intermediate crocheters - you must be able to confidently do the basics in crochet. Participants must bring with them 5x pre-made squares (2x standard double or treble crochet and 3x granny squares). All other materials as well as tea/coffee and of course cake will be provided. Tuesday 1st - Saturday 6th October 2024Price: from £895pp Join Anna Nikipirowicz in West Yorkshire for six days of workshops and yarn-themed excursions. On this retreat, visit the collection of the Knitting & Crochet Guild, a treasure trove of textile wonders, housed in a former mill in Slaithwaite. Our learning continues with mill tours of British Wool in Bradford and West Yorkshire Spinners. There will also be the opportunity for some local sightseeing as we spend some time in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Saltaire Village. Anna's workshops will centre round a colourwork project, inspired by the patterns and tradition of knitting in Yorkshire Dales. We will work on fingerless gloves using traditional patterns of the Yorkshire Dales, practising holding two yarns in one hand or two hands in preferable. We will be working in the round using Double Pointed Needles and will even have a go at using the traditional Yorkshire sheath. There will also be the opportunity to knit a Yorkshire Rose to use it as an embellishment for the gloves or a brooch. Baltic Cities Christmas Markets Knitting Holiday
Thursday 5th - Wednesday 11th December 2024Price: from £2.235pp Join us for a pre-Christmas holiday taking in the beautiful capital cities of Tallinn and Riga. Tallinn is one of Europe’s newest capitals and boasts a rich mix of architecture and culture. The Old Town was almost untouched by war and remains perfectly preserved. A fine Christmas tree will be the centre piece of Old Town Square, where we’ll have some time to explore the Christmas market. We’ll visit the highlights of the city with our local guide and learn about Estonian handicrafts. Riga is the largest city in the Baltics and features a fascinating mixture of proud Latvian traditions and influences of the various countries that have occupied it. On a tour with a local guide, we’ll soak up the charms of the city and enjoy time to explore the magical Christmas markets. We’ll also explore the rich heritage of Latvian costume and take part in a mitten knitting workshop with a local expert. The tour is accompanied by our Stitchtopia expert Anna Nikipirowicz, who has designed a project which captures the spirit of this Baltic Cities tour perfectly. Workshop information: During this holiday, we will work on a pair of mittens that combine the traditions of Latvia and Estonia. We will use traditional colourwork technique to create beautiful patterns, and then add embellishments. The mittens will have a modern twist, as we will be able to make them into fingerless gloves as well.
