Rowan New Season Yarn Testing and Knitting Clinic

11am – 3pm

This free clinic will focus on the yarns from Rowan Mag 63.I'll bring garment samples show and will have Rowan new yarn for you to knit, crochet and experiment with. I'll demonstrate knitting stitches and assist you with any knitting problems. 

The clinic is free, drop in at any time.

A fun workshop looking at important crochet techniques such as how to crochet correctly in the round and how to create a perfect square.
We will cover:
Turning chains
Chainless foundation
Magic loop
Joining techniques
V stitch
Front and back post stitches
Dimensional bobble stitch
Crocodile stitch

Students to bring:

a sewing up needle
several completed granny squares using DK weight yarn (2 x 4 rounds granny square and 1 x 3 rounds granny square)
4mm hook plus a selection of DK yarns in wool and in cotton.

This class is suitable for those who have confidently mastered the basics, can crochet in rows and rounds, can crochet a granny square.

Sock knitting - Top Down (heel flap)

Top-down method (heel flap): A superb introduction to sock knitting or a refresher if it’s been a while since you last had a go. During this workshop you will work on a basic mini sock knitted top-down. You will learn how to work in the round using 4 needles, turn a heel and graft using kitchener stitch.

This workshop is aimed at the complete beginner. During this project based workshop you will learn how to knit a super chunky hat.

Would you like to jump on the knitting wagon but no idea where to start? This is the knitting class for you! We’ll teach you all our favourite techniques and you’ll leave with the skills to make a lovely chunky bobble hat.

In this chilly weather, knitting is really the perfect hobby. Think of all those woolly treasures you could create for yourself with your very own hands. After taking Intro to Knitting you will be able to read a pattern and so that matching scarf, hat and mittens set you’ve been dreaming of can be yours!

Here’s what you will learn in our Intro to Knitting class:

  • How to cast on to knitting needles
  • How to cast off at the end of your project
  • How to knit and purl (and what those mean!)
  • How to reduce stitches and get shaping into your knitting
  • How to make a pompom

All materials and equipment will be provided at the knitting class, which you can then take away with you. You will leave with a finished bobble hat in just three hours!

This class is the perfect introduction to crochet, leaving you with the skills to advance onto your own crochet projects.
