Mosaic Crochet - £35

Mosaic crochet is a colour work technique worked in DC and TR. It follows the same charting system as mosaic knitting. It produces gorgeous patterns! During this class you will master how to crochet using this technique and also overlay mosaic technique. 
In this class we will work on a small swatch and learn how to crochet using the mosaic and overlay mosaic techniques and follow a mosaic chart. 

Materials to bring:
2 colours in DK, worsted or aran yarn and a hook in an appropriate size for your yarn.

Technique Requirements: This class is suitable for participants who are comfortable with holding the yarn and hook and know how to work basic stitches including double and treble.

1: An introduction to Sequence Knitting

Discover how to create new and interesting textures by repeating a sequence of stitches in different formats and multiples. You will start by testing out a couple of different approaches before moving on to a slouchy hat project.

  • 100g ball of pure wool
  • Pompom maker
You will need to bring:
  • 4mm knitting needles
  • Knitters sewing needle
  • Scissors

2: Slipstitch colourwork

Create beautiful patterns with a technique that looks far more complicated than it is! Knitters will discover that they are only ever working with one colour at a time, whilst still being able to create intricate patterns. You will work on a small purse project using different coloured and textures of yarn as well as adding beads.

Kit cost: £12

Includes:

  • 3 x 50g balls of cotton yarn
  • Small amounts of textured yarns
  • Beads
You will need to bring:
  • 3.25mm knitting needles
  • A fine–eyed or beading needle pre-threaded with cotton
  • Knitters sewing needle
