Knitting has been a part of Irish life since the 1600's when knitting schools were established across the country. During the 18th century knitting became a source of income for many households thanks to an abundance of wool. Aran sweaters with their distinctive design are a symbol of Ireland. A full day excursion to the smallest of the Aran islands is a chance to learn about Aran knitting - the Inis Oírr way. Project: During this holiday we will start on a beautiful project bag full of traditional cables and bobbles taken inspiration from the Aran islands. Tunisian Crochet Weekend
22nd to 24th September 20233 days from £475ppTake some time out from the hustle and bustle of daily life and join Anna on this relaxing weekend retreat dedicated to Tunisian crochet. The weekend is suitable for anyone who is comfortable with holding the yarn and the hook and knows how to work basic standard crochet stitches.
Project: During the two days we will work on a cushion cover. Learning a great range of stitches, including puffs, bobbles, lace, cables as well as increases, decreases, joining and little cross stitch. On day one we will start with simple, purl, seed stitches, using colour to create interesting effects, then moving onto puffs and shells. One day two we will concentrate on fans, lace, cables, waves and joining. Participants will need to bring with them 5mm Tunisian crochet hook, cable needle, tapestry needle for sewing up and scissors. You do not need to know how to Tunisian crochet, but you do need to know how to hold yarn and hook and crochet basic stitches. |

Project: During this weekend we will start working on small project bag, perfect for carrying your socks or small projects.
We will learn how to knit using the mosaic technique creating beautiful patterns, read mosaic charts, work in the round and how to knit non stretchy straps.
Participants will need to bring 4mm 60cm in length circular needles, tapestry needles and scissors.
This class is suitable for anyone who is comfortable holding knitting needles and yarn and knows the basic stitches.

Crochet Sock Weekend
Friday 15th - Sunday 17th December 20233 days from £475ppTake some time out for yourself on the run up to Christmas! This weekend is a perfect introduction to crocheting socks. We’ll work on a pair of basic top-down socks which will cover all the techniques you need and discuss sizing and how to choose the best one for your foot.Great class for anyone who always wanted to crochet socks. During the weekend we will work on a pair of basic top-down socks where we will learn the heel flap construction, heel turn, gusset and toe decreases. We will also cover sizing and how to customise your socks to fit your foot. Time permitting we will also have a go at mini sock with toe-up construction with an afterthought heel.
On day one, we will work on the cuff, leg, heel flap and turn.
On day two, we will cover gusset, foot, toes and finishing. Also, mini sock with afterthought heel if time permits it.
Participants will be given a choice of four colours of yarn for their socks and will need to bring 3mm hook, 3 x lockable stitch marker in different colours, tapestry needle and scissors
This class is suitable for participants who are comfortable with holding hook and yarn and know the basic stitches.
